Today’s China has entered a high-speed internet-driven era. Chinese media no longer lead every major event with the phrase “reform and opening-up.” Chinese entrepreneurs are non-stop ringing the bell at Nasdaq. “Made in China” appears around the globe. Chinese product advertisements are heavily featured in Hollywood blockbusters. Chinese consumers have bought 46% of the world’s luxury goods... It’s like a science fiction novel by Frederik·Pohl, where every Chinese person is part of the story, pushing it toward ever more extraordinary directions, ultimately shaping this unfamiliar face of China.

The biennial flagship event in the global photography and imaging field—photokina—will take place from September 20 to 25, 2016, in Cologne, Germany. Honeyview.com, the leading domestic photography platform and the first Chinese imaging media invited in the 66-year history of photokina, will present the "Faces of China" photo exhibition featuring 15 of the most distinctive personalities in China today, showcasing the China of the present to the world.
It is reported that photokina 2016 will attract participation from 1,000 companies across 40 countries. The "Faces of China" exhibition will be located in Hall 1 of the Cologne Exhibition Center, covering an area of 4003. (Note: unit unclear) and will stand out among other exhibits.
To help the world better understand China and Chinese photography, Honeyview.com, as a leading Chinese imaging company, spent over two months collecting over ten thousand submissions nationwide. From the most representative fields of contemporary China, they selected 15 sets of works by 8 photographers. These works cover themes such as urban builders, food delivery riders, square dance stars, selfies, overseas shoppers, senior high school repeaters, Beijing drifters-turned-writers, internet celebrities, cosplayers, icons of niche culture, artisans, foreigners in China, makers, feminist artists, and the LGBTQ+ community—15 current topics that cannot be ignored in China today.
Additionally, during the photokina 2016 exhibition, Honeyview.com will deploy a special reporting team to cover internationally popular imaging topics of great interest to users, including new camera gear, connected imaging, cinematic technology, drone imaging, action cameras, and innovative accessories. They will share insights with Chinese readers in real time, provide in-depth analysis of the latest international photography equipment and trends, and enhance cultural exchange in photography between China and abroad.
Friends traveling to Cologne during the exhibition should not miss this visual feast. For those who can’t make it, don’t be disappointed—the "Faces of China" exhibition will appear at the Beijing International Photography Week in October 2016.
By bringing the "Faces of China" exhibition to Europe, Honeyview.com has undoubtedly taken a significant step in promoting Chinese photography on the international stage. This will lay a solid foundation for the future of China’s photography industry to reach international leadership, while also opening doors for exchanges between Chinese and international photographers, allowing Chinese and global photography cultures to blend and resonate more deeply.
