In terms of mountain sports or the mountain economy, the integration of sports, tourism, culture, and wellness has become a trend. A year after the International Mountain Tourism Conference was held in southwestern Guizhou, the inevitable “International Mountain Outdoor Sports Conference” stepped onto the historical stage. Together with the “International Mountain Tourism Conference,” they have taken off side by side. In 2016, the “International Mountain Tourism Conference,” approved by the State Council, was officially renamed the “International Mountain Tourism and Mountain Outdoor Sports Conference,” making it China’s only national-level large-scale international summit.

In fact, the establishment of a tourism and outdoor sports conference featuring mountain characteristics in Guizhou is due not only to the national emphasis in recent years on sports, health, the sports industry, and the tourism industry, but also to grassroots enthusiasm from the bottom up. As people’s demands for physical and mental health and tourism continue to rise, various outdoor sports have emerged. Additionally, there is the enthusiasm of Guizhou itself, leveraging its mountainous advantages to master the “mountain strategy” and its drive for late-blooming catch-up development, as well as its strategic layout of a green economy.
