The “ART TAIPEI 2016 Taipei International Art Expo” will be grandly held from November 12 (Saturday) to November 15 (Tuesday) at Taipei World Trade Center Hall 1. In addition to continuing the four key sections — Art Galleries, Rising Stars, Art Frontier, and Public Art — this year also introduces a new “Voices of the Image” section. It brings together 150 internationally acclaimed galleries, featuring over 700 artists and more than 3,000 artworks. It is Asia’s longest-running art event and ranks among the top three art fairs in Asia.

Co-organized by the Ministry of Culture and the Galleries Association of the Republic of China, ART TAIPEI is now in its 23rd edition. In recent years, attendance has reached 40,000–70,000 visitors, with transactions nearing NT$1.1 billion. It has become an essential hub for the international art scene entering the Asian market. The design of this year’s ART TAIPEI venue was inspired by Taiwan’s mountain ranges, using the island’s unique landscape features as the conceptual outline for the exhibition space. In addition to displaying artworks, the event includes a variety of art lectures, the Taipei Art Forum, and art salons, fully showcasing the identity and value of contemporary Asian art.

In addition, to help promote young Taiwanese artists on the international stage, the Ministry of Culture continues to host the ninth “Made in Taiwan – Emerging Artists Section,” dedicated to showcasing artists aged 35 and under. Selected MIT artists have been featured in the ART TAIPEI Taipei International Art Expo over the years. Following a competitive selection process, eight outstanding young domestic artists will exhibit this year, including: Wu Yufei, Chen Yun, Huang Zhizheng, Chuang Chihwei, Peng Yiyi, Wu Qianyi, Wen Mengyu, and Huang Shuntin.

It is hoped that through the international exchange platform of ART TAIPEI, the world will witness the enduring vitality of Taiwan’s artistic creativity, promote the visual arts industry’s integration with the global market, and bring Taiwan’s exceptional art creations to the world stage.
