However, the disadvantages of kayak polo are also very clear.

But it is precisely because of these advantages and disadvantages,
that the sport of kayak polo,
has become a positive option for youth outdoor training programs.
Wu Ge studied at university in the UK, where he joined a kayak polo club. Later, he joined the U.S. National Kayak Polo Team.
2012At the end of the year, Wu Ge returned to China and also brought kayak polo to China.
“Currently, there are only100kayak polo enthusiasts in China, but the growth rate is very fast!” Wu Ge said.
In addition to running his own kayak polo club, Wu Ge is also a water sports coach at Zhejiang University. “Every year, two to three hundred graduates complete their training.”
“And looking at the prospects, the kayak polo project will be part of the Asian Games demonstration events next year, and might even become a competitive event in the following edition. If a project receives strong government support, it can develop very quickly.
Compared to land-based sports, fewer people participate in water sports, and not knowing how to swim is a barrier that prevents most people from trying water sports easily.
“But it’s not like that for teenagers,” Wu Ge said.
The kayak polo project combines both performance and competition elements, is highly entertaining, and the matches are very exciting and thrilling. Many teenagers, after watching, actively ask to participate.
And it’s very safe—there’s almost no risk of getting injured, making it especially suitable for young people.
Now at Wu Ge’s Jingzhou Water Sports Club,
kayak polo is being run as an important youth training program.
