When visiting Hong Kong, people usually come for the food, fun, and entertainment—enjoying authentic Cantonese dim sum, taking in the night views of Victoria Harbour, or soaking up the festive atmosphere at Disneyland.You may have already experienced all that Hong Kong has to offer on the ground, but what about from high above? In the classic Hong Kong movie “Dance with the Dragon,” the male lead, Lung Ka-Chun, takes the female lead, Fleur, on a helicopter ride to see the city’s nighttime skyline—a memorable scene. Now, you can recreate that experience too!
Helicopter is currently the only company in Hong Kong offering helicopter sightseeing tours, with its departure point located on the rooftop of the Peninsula Hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui. Before entering the helipad, visitors watch a safety video and receive a briefing from staff in a luxurious and spacious VIP lounge, where they can also enjoy views of Hong Kong’s towering skyscrapers while waiting.

As the helipad at the Peninsula Hotel was under maintenance on the day of the experience, the boarding location was changed to a helipad near the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Each helicopter can accommodate six passengers. After putting on safety gear, you’ll board the helicopter under the guidance of the staff!

The first surprise after boarding the helicopter? Our pilot was none other than Hong Kong’s famous actor Michael Wong (Wang Mingde)! Passionate about flying, Michael obtained his pilot’s license in 2000 and now flies for Helicopter in Hong Kong, giving tourists aerial tours of the city’s beautiful sights. During the flight, he also provides commentary through the microphone, pointing out landmarks and sharing insights—both professional and dashing!

The itinerary for this experience was the Hong Kong Island Tour, which circles along the coastline of Hong Kong Island. From the air, you can take in the bustling Victoria Harbour and the scenic bays and beaches of Hong Kong Island’s southern district. The flight lasts about 15 minutes. Other options include tours of Kowloon Peninsula, Hong Kong Global Geopark, and a comprehensive tour of all of Hong Kong.
