Kyoto has entered the most stunning maple season of the year. In the seaside city of Maizuru, the renowned maple-viewing spot “Kongōin” is now at its peak. Surrounded by 3,000 maple trees, this ancient temple attracts many domestic and international visitors with its breathtaking scenery, offering a taste of the romantic hues of late autumn.
Kongōin is home to about 3,000 maple trees, ranging in age from 20 to 200 years. The vast expanse of maple foliage encircles the temple’s three-story pagoda, adding a splash of vibrant color to the ancient structure. It’s a must-see spectacle during the maple season, with the best viewing period lasting until the 23rd.

Access: Get off at Matsuoji Station on the JR Obama Line and walk for about 20 minutes; or get off at JR Higashi-Maizuru Station and take a taxi.
