500,000 water balloons, a mass battle, and a world record — we’re waiting for you

Water balloon battles are a popular international summer activity where participants throw small balloons filled with water for fun. They are commonly held in parks and city squares. This will be the first time such a battle takes place in the romantic and thrilling water park setting of Yaoli. On July 16, 2016, Luoyang, China, set a world record for the activity by “detonating” 300,000 water balloons within 10 minutes. For this Yaoli event, the plan is to distribute 500,000 water balloons throughout the scenic area. The large-scale distribution ensures every visitor can fully enjoy the fun of the water balloon battle.

Yaoli Town is located in Fuliang County, Jingdezhen City, Jiangxi Province. It earned its name from its fame in ceramic kilns, with handmade pottery workshops dating back to the mid-Tang Dynasty. Situated at the northeastern edge of the world-renowned porcelain capital and at the center of four UNESCO World Heritage Sites (Huangshan, Lushan, Sanqingshan, and Xidi-Hongcun), Yaoli is known as the “source of porcelain, hometown of tea, and sea of forests.” It is a National Key Scenic Area, a National AAAA-level Tourist Attraction, a National Historical and Cultural Town, a National Mine Park, a National Forest Park, a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit, and a National Natural and Cultural Dual Heritage site.

Here, you can see Jiangxi Yaoli’s version of the “Huangguoshu Waterfall” — the Nanshan Grand Waterfall, whose main cascade is over 100 meters wide, 78 meters high, and has a total drop of up to 220 meters; view Jiangxi Yaoli’s “Jiuzhaigou” — the “emerald seas” of the Yaoli River, where crystal-clear waters reflect the green mountains; explore the curious Ice Mortar Grand Canyon — Wanghu is home to one of the largest discovered “ice mortar clusters” in Yaoli, with a history of two to three million years.
