The Coastal Dragon—Scenic Beauty Along the Island City's Shores
The coastal promenade winds like a long dragon through the meeting point of sea and city, organically connecting various bays and seaside attractions along a silver thread, making it Qingdao’s longest and most beautiful seaside tourist route. Strolling along the path, on one side lies the bustling, beautiful city, and on the other, the vast, boundless ocean.
From the shores of Qingdao Bay, you can admire the picturesque scenery of red tiles, green trees, blue sea, and azure sky—it feels as if you’re enjoying Qingdao from the sea. Here, you can not only take in the charm of Qingdao’s century-old city, but also enjoy famous scenic spots such as Qingdao Bay, Zhanqiao Pier, Little Qingdao, and the Navy Museum.
Heading east along Taiping Road, you’ll find cultural heritage buildings and fine architectural structures on the north side of the road, including the former site of the Qingdao Presidential Palace, Zhanqiao Hotel, the former site of Deutsch-Asiatische Bank, Qingdao’s oldest surviving ethnic-style building—the Tianhou Palace, the former site of Qingdao Prison, and the People’s Hall.
Next comes Lu Xun Park, renowned as the “Penglai Paradise View,” along with Qingdao Aquarium and Qingdao Underwater World.
Underwater Memories—85 Years of Unchanged Scenery
With an 85-year history, Qingdao Aquarium stands proudly on the city’s coast, its green tiles and red pavilions enclosing a blue dream beneath the sea.
The towers atop the hill are laid out meticulously with rigorous structure; their lofty forms rise amid seaside woods. Bricks and tiles layered together, with blue, gold, and brick-red hues interwoven across the roof, shimmer vibrantly.
The interior style resembles the fresh blue of Santorini in Greece.
Deep Sea Affection—Warm and Sincere Smile Service
Capture every moment, be moved every day.
Since its establishment, Qingdao Underwater World has regarded service as its lifeline, doing everything possible to ensure visitors feel genuine, heartfelt service while exploring the magical underwater world—making every day here feel like spring.
Due to its emphasis on service, the aquarium has launched its own service brand, “Deep Sea Affection,” and has been honored with titles such as “Qingdao Service Brand” and “Shandong Province Service Brand.”
Today, “Deep Sea Affection” has become yet another dazzling calling card for Qingdao.
In the nearly 15 years since its founding, the aquarium has been creating stories of recognition and inspiration through its sincerity and dedication every single day.
Magical Ocean—The Wondrous Night at Underwater World
Get up close with “Nemo,” “green sea turtles,” and more. The “virtual aquarium” even lets you raise your favorite fish...
This year, Qingdao Underwater World has invested heavily to upgrade its exhibition model, introducing a series of projects that combine stunning AR (augmented reality) technology, holographic projections, and a colorful array of premium marine life displays.
The Magic Brush of Ma Liang—Magical Ocean
Making the birds you draw fly and the fish you sketch swim—that’s something only the legendary “Magic Brush Ma Liang” could do.
But now, at the 3D Interactive Wall Experience Zone “Hand-Painted Magical Ocean” on the negative third floor of Qingdao Underwater World, this dream can come true.
Children can first draw fish on paper, and once transferred to the virtual underwater environment, the fish they drew will swim in the sea.
Instantly put on a "fish headgear" and enjoy the experience happily
On the multimedia experience floor on B4, come and put on your own "underwater fish headgear" !
In the interactive AR experience, instantly putting on the "fish headgear" will automatically capture your portrait and project it onto the screen, where your head will be instantly adorned with cute headgears such as a clownfish, jellyfish, octopus, little penguin, or polar bear.
I've already captured my Nemo headgear and posted a selfie to my WeChat Moments !
Dr. Ocean's Space Laboratory
The modern high-tech "Qingdao No. 1" Dr. Ocean's Space Laboratory is home to a variety of "underwater model workers" organisms.
There's also a desktop AR ocean experience where, while answering fun science trivia questions, you can get up close with "Nemo" and "green sea turtles," and the "virtual aquarium" even allows you to raise your favorite fish…
