Life should have at least two impulses
One for love that defies all odds, and one for a trip taken on a whim
Over 14 days and 13 nights, covering 6,500 kilometers — including 2,000 kilometers of special terrain — without guides, backup, or supplies, we carried our own food and provisions in an Inder portable car fridge. We successfully crossed China’s five major no-man’s-lands in one continuous journey: Lake Hala, Lop Nur, Arjin Mountain, Hoh Xil, and the Qiangtang no-man’s-land. Camping at altitudes of 5,100 meters and temperatures below minus 20 degrees Celsius, we endured extreme weather and harsh survival conditions. We faced severe altitude sickness among team members, vehicles failing to start, transfer case malfunctions, tire blowouts, brake line ruptures, and getting stuck in the mud... Yet we never abandoned or gave up on anyone. Without rescue or towing assistance, we covered over 500 kilometers unsupported and ultimately succeeded in crossing, arriving in Lhasa. The hardships can only truly be understood by those who walked the path — and we’re grateful to have made it all the way.
Exploration is a spirit; Inder is a lifestyle
In harsh environments and complex terrains, the Inder portable car fridge still delivers powerful cooling
It’s said the Inder portable car fridge features anti-vibration technology, easily handling bumpy roads and steep slopes of up to 30 degrees, among other challenging conditions. We’ll wait and see.
The harsh environment and complex terrain of the no-man’s-lands posed a great challenge to the off-road vehicles. All five vehicles experienced varying degrees of malfunction during the trip. We camped by Lake Hala at an altitude of 4,200 meters, with temperatures nearing minus twenty degrees Celsius in the early morning. Multiple vehicles failed to start the next day, with repeated ignition attempts causing flooded cylinders. They were eventually started by removing the spark plugs and drying the gasoline.
After entering Lop Nur, due to prolonged driving on bumpy roads and sandy surfaces, some off-road vehicles experienced computer circuit issues that caused anti-theft lockouts and failure to start. The root cause was never identified. The Land Rover Discovery in our team had just undergone major engine repairs but suffered from cylinder scoring due to prolonged low-speed, high-RPM operation. The Jeep Wrangler and the Land Rover Discovery were eventually towed out of Lop Nur, regrettably bringing an end to the planned crossing of the remaining three no-man’s-lands.
Due to the unpredictable road and terrain conditions in the no-man’s-lands, every vehicle carried some supplies. The various food provisions stored in the Inder portable car fridge greatly aided our crossing. Team members relied on each other, cooperated under adversity, and rescued one another in extreme conditions, testing each individual’s resilience in the harshest environments.
Those who are passionate about food are never disappointed in life
The Inder portable car fridge keeps our anticipation for food anything but cold
On this day, we used the car fridge to keep our daily rations — meat — chilled. It stayed cool without freezing at all. The men driving the lead off-road vehicles have stories. Drinking, smoking, dancing — singing through the hardships, with brothers by their side, their hearts stay strong. They prefer doing things themselves, measuring the land with their wheels. It’s much slower than flying or taking the train, but far more thrilling. They enjoy self-sufficiency, cooking their own mountain delicacies. Though the ingredients may be fewer than in a restaurant, the meals are more satisfying.
Road-tripping is a lifestyle, exploration is a spirit, and even a way of life. That’s why we choose off-roading.
Good brothers, off-road vehicles, delicious food, fine wine, and the Inder portable car fridge keeping our ice-cold treats fresh along the way — the enjoyment just keeps growing.
Thank you, Inder. Bringing a portable car fridge on trips to no-man’s-lands for tourism or exploration really highlights its purpose and value. It cools quickly, runs quietly, resists vibrations and shocks, and isn’t afraid of bumps. Even in extremely harsh environments, it remains a reliable companion for long road trips. Why use a fridge in icy and snowy conditions? This portable car fridge lets you set the temperature yourself — set it to 5°C, and it keeps food perfectly preserved.
The spirits of the no-man’s-lands, with reverence for nature
Off-roading, enjoying good food — the Inder portable car fridge helps me show off and soar
In the battle against nature’s harsh conditions, it not only slowly drains your physical strength but also chips away at your willpower bit by bit. In such a brutal environment, everyone’s emotions gradually grow restless, like increasingly rapid breathing. Especially when unexpected events occur — like vehicle breakdowns or injuries — the cohesion of the team becomes especially crucial.
On the edge of Qiangtang, the spirits of the no-man’s-lands. Even in these harsh conditions, human footprints remain. This Tibetan nomadic family — a young Tibetan couple raising seven children. Humans are so small before nature, yet so resilient. They fight against nature at 5,000 meters above sea level, tenaciously surviving while holding nature in awe. We, the fleeting passersby, accepted their generous smiles, left them our blessings, and shared the wine and extra fuel from our car fridge. We wished them a life as free and bold as that 175cc roaring motorcycle, galloping across the vast grasslands.
What gives you the courage to set off again?
Confidence, trust, mutual understanding and help, and the yearning for a healthy and beautiful life
Some stories must eventually come to an end. How long can someone accompany you? How much glamour must you go through before leaving an indelible mark? How much can a vehicle endure, how many mountains and rivers must it cross with you, before you vow never to part? How long must a portable car fridge stay by your side to become a beautiful memory in your life? This is the story of an off-road vehicle and an old man, wading through the river together, splashed with mud. Only then will I tell you: I’m ready to set off again.
The Inder portable car fridge tested this time truly withstood the jolts. Even when the hydraulic jack broke and leaked oil from the shaking, the fridge continued to function flawlessly.
