Since the beginning of China's 2008 Olympics, the Wugong Mountain Tent Festival has entered its tenth year. Over the past decade, from its inception to development and then to maturity, Wugong Mountain has now grown into a holy land for outdoor sports and camping in China, and the Tent Festival has become an indispensable summer feast in the hearts of thousands of hiking enthusiasts.

A Decade of Remarkable Growth
To date, the Wugong Mountain Tent Festival has gone through nine years. The number of participants has grown from 4,000 in 2008 to over 40,000 in 2016, making it the largest and most attended tent festival in China. It has become a symbolic cultural and tourism landmark for Pingxiang City and even Jiangxi Province, exerting a far-reaching impact on the local economy, society, and culture.
In 2008, the first Wugong Mountain Tent Festival was born, giving Chinese hikers a major festival of their own. In 2010, the Wugong Mountain Tent Festival successfully held the “China’s Most Beautiful Outdoor Lady” selection event, rapidly boosting its brand influence, with offline participation surpassing 10,000 for the first time. In 2013, it advocated harmonious coexistence between humans and nature, practiced the Green Wugong concept, and introduced the slogan “Civilized Outdoor, Enjoy Nature,” gradually instilling green and environmental awareness. In 2014, rock music was introduced with the special program “Rock Concert at the Roof of Jiangxi,” delivering an unprecedented audiovisual feast on the mountaintop.
A decade of history, ten years of brilliance. Over time, the Wugong Mountain Tent Festival has evolved from a simple stargazing camp on the alpine meadow to encompassing classic outdoor sports events such as mountain climbing, stream tracing, rock climbing, paragliding, and mountain biking. It has gradually transformed into a comprehensive outdoor carnival centered on camping, fused with music, love, friendship, entertainment, and more.

The event will be divided into four chapters: the Qixi Chapter “Camping Together · Sharing Youth” on August 26–27, the Thanksgiving Chapter “Ten Years of Outdoor · A Journey Together” on September 9–10, the Carnival Chapter “Music in the Outdoors · Continuing the Legend” on September 16–17, and the National Day & Mid-Autumn Chapter “National Day Daily Fun · Camping Carnival” from October 1–7. At that time, tens of thousands of visitors will reunite again, gathering on the grassland in the clouds to share a tent feast on the vast meadows.

Unlike previous years, this event has undergone many adjustments in its arrangements, with more detailed and reasonable overall planning, and more systematic and refined details.
In terms of content, the number of outdoor open-air concerts has increased this year, with both scale and quality improved compared to previous editions. For music lovers, this is an unmissable opportunity.
To provide visitors with a brand-new outdoor experience, Wugong Mountain has gone to great lengths in infrastructure development, investing over 50 million yuan to build a new Guanyindang Outdoor Camp. To date, 300 elevated camping platforms, an outdoor-themed square, a camp service center, a professional performance stage, and other service facilities have been completed.
In terms of camp management, the scenic area has increased staffing to ensure site order and safety, not only enhancing visitors’ camp experience but also protecting the rights of merchants. To maintain smooth communication and strong event visibility, the area has further boosted network infrastructure investment to ensure connectivity in the camp and on the mountaintop, enabling live broadcasts of camp evening events.
This year’s event planning demonstrates greater vision and foresight. The service system has been coordinated in advance, functional zoning has been strategically laid out, affiliated scenic facilities have been efficiently managed, and cooperation among businesses such as hot spring hotels, grass sliding fields, rafting spots, and Shixi Tribe has been strengthened to elevate service standards, laying a solid foundation for the sustained development of all-for-one tourism.
