New Taipei’s Hidden Gem “Sanjiaopuding Mountain” – Majestic Silvergrass Waves Like a Painting!

In autumn, silvergrass sways in the wind, creating a picturesque and poetic scene. At the border of Shulin District in New Taipei and Guishan District in Taoyuan lies the hidden gem Sanjiaopuding Mountain, where few people venture. The rolling hills are covered with freely dancing silvergrass, making every snapshot look like a painting.

Sanjiaopuding Mountain is located at the junction of Shulin District and Guishan Township, standing at an elevation of 285 meters, and is also known as Qiangziliao Mountain. The power line tower on the summit is one of its most distinctive features, visible from afar and highly eye-catching. The mountain is most beautiful in autumn—when you reach the top and gaze out over the undulating silvergrass swaying in the breeze, it feels dreamlike and instantly washes away your worries, offering a deeply soothing experience. There is also a third-order triangulation station from the Japanese colonial era on the summit.

Visitors to Sanjiaopuding Mountain can also connect their hike with two other famous peaks in Shulin — “Datong Mountain” and “Qinglong Ridge” — tackling all three in one go. From the summit, you’ll enjoy sweeping views of Greater Taipei, Shulin, and Banqiao.

In autumn, visit Sanjiaopuding Mountain to admire the silvergrass blooms, and in spring, head to Datong Mountain to walk the cherry blossom trail. One “Shulin District,” two completely different experiences. Aside from directly ascending Sanjiaopuding Mountain to enjoy the romantic embrace of the silvergrass, you can also try climbing the nearby Qinglong Ridge. From there, gaze at Sanjiaopuding Mountain and take in the vast stretches of emerald-green silvergrass from afar — equally breathtaking.

Address: Guangxing Li, Shulin District, New Taipei City
Transportation: Walk about 1 km from Shulin Railway Station to the trailhead on Wenhua Street, or take bus 701 from Shulin Railway Station to Gonglu Xincun Station (then walk about 500 m to the Zhongling Shrine trailhead). Alternatively, enter via the Zhongzheng Road or Zhongyi Street trailheads in Shulin.
