The signature dish of “Uncle Squid (UNCLES派恤陇),” a Korean-style restaurant, is its heavyweight squid deep-fried until golden brown. The brand is now set to open its second store in Taipei at ATT 4 FUN. Unlike the first outlet, this second branch features a tented carriage as its interior design theme and will be named the “UNCLES Carriage Store.”

During South Korea’s economic boom in the 1970s, when the nation prioritized economic development and people worked from dawn to dusk, the “tent carriages (Pocheon Dae)” became popular gathering spots for colleagues after work. Today, some Koreans have adapted the spirit of the tent carriages indoors, and the term has been shortened to “Pocha,” similar to Taiwan’s hot pot restaurants. Now, Uncle Squid (UNCLES派恤陇) is bringing this iconic symbol of Korean culture — the “tent carriage” — to Taiwan.
