On September 19, Garmin held a media meeting for its newly launched 360-degree action camera, the VIRB360. The company invited over 20 professional media outlets in photography, VR, technology, outdoor, and travel to a self-service networking reception at High Town Haitang Craft Beer in Beijing's Sanlitun for product experience and interaction. For VR players and travel enthusiasts, whether for shooting interesting panoramic videos or capturing stunning landscapes around the globe, the immersive effect of VIRB360’s 360-degree videos offers a truly striking experience.
Themed “Breaking Spatial Boundaries—Only 360° Panoramas Truly Deliver in the VR Era,” the event consisted of four segments: media Q&A, interviews, free interaction, and dining. It began with an introduction to Garmin’s brand history by a company representative, followed by a detailed presentation of the new VIRB360. As one of the most advanced action cameras on the market, the Garmin VIRB360 can shoot in ultra-high 5.7K resolution, supports voice command operation, and can overlay a variety of motion data—including speed, altitude, track, and gravity—onto video footage via built-in GPS. Users can edit and share their videos anytime through a mobile app. Notably, the Garmin VIRB360 is capable of automatically stitching together 360-degree video, whereas other 360-degree action cameras on the market require multiple devices shooting from different angles, with post-production stitching that demands advanced technical skills not easily mastered by average users. Thus, the Garmin VIRB360 effectively solves the challenge of capturing 360-degree videos for everyday users.
The event also invited opinion leaders in photography, travel, VR, and extreme outdoor sports to share their new experiences using the Garmin VIRB360 across various scenarios. For example, photographers and travelers can use the VIRB360 to capture the most authentic imagery, allowing every viewer to immerse themselves in thrilling scenes. VR media professionals can record diverse panoramic material, and the fast auto-stitching technology greatly improves their workflow. For extreme sports enthusiasts, the VIRB360 enables first-person recording of activities such as skydiving, surfing, parkour, paragliding, and wingsuit flying, letting everyone experience the thrill of these adventures through video.
The Garmin VIRB360 media meeting also included a Q&A session. Opinion leaders from the fields of photography, VR, travel, and extreme outdoor sports spoke highly of the product, showing strong interest and asking numerous questions, all of which were answered by Garmin staff. Notably, Zhang Shupeng, China’s foremost wingsuit pilot, and Liu Jiang, a renowned extreme sports photographer, shared their experiences using the VIRB360 on-site, both emphasizing its crucial role in documenting extreme sports.
After the Q&A session, the event transitioned into a buffet time, where attendees continued to network and discuss while enjoying light refreshments. With this, the Garmin VIRB360 media launch event came to a successful conclusion.
