On November 5, 2017, the 2017 Water Sports Summit Forum was grandly convened at the Radisson Blu Hotel Shanghai Hong Quan. The forum was hosted by Shanghai Sinoexpo Informa Markets International Exhibition Co., Ltd. (referred to as “Sinoexpo”) and co-organized by the Canoeing Industry Association. Professionals in the water sports industry gathered together to provide significant momentum for the development of China’s water sports sector.
In recent years, China’s water sports industry has developed rapidly, with continuously growing market demand and an increasing number of clubs, further unleashing the industry’s potential. However, overall, there are still many challenges in the development of water sports in China. With opportunities on the horizon, it is imperative to strengthen and integrate all links in the industrial chain, including clubs, equipment, training, events, and competitions.
As one of the most professional exhibition companies in China, Sinoexpo has the capability to provide a long-term platform for communication within the water sports industry. Moreover, Sinoexpo has a longstanding connection with the water sports industry. Its yacht show, which has a 23-year history, attracted 428 exhibitors and over 30,000 visitors during its April 2017 event. Water sports equipment accounted for 12% of the total exhibits, and 62.3% of attendees expressed a passion for water-based leisure and sports.
Against this backdrop, the forum, themed “Collaborative Innovation, Building a New Ecosystem for Water Sports,” invited over 60 industry elites, including domestic water sports equipment manufacturers, club operators, trainers, and enthusiasts, to pool their ideas and jointly explore new directions for the future development of the water sports industry.
Mr. Deng Ji, representing the Canoeing Industry Association, and Ms. Gao Haiyan, representing Sinoexpo, delivered speeches respectively. They both expressed their vision for the promising future of China’s water sports industry and sincerely hoped that this forum would help identify and solve problems, providing a higher and broader platform for the professionalization, vocationalization, and internationalization of China’s water sports development.
