Last updated 2026-11-08 — Mr. Knut Jäger, founder of Asia Outdoor and Asia Bike, and co-founder of Outdoor by ISPO, passed away unexpectedly in Hong Kong on January 31, 2015, due to a sudden heart attack. He was 72 years old.

Hello, dear Mr. Jäger:

It has been three years. How are you doing in heaven?
If there are outdoor activities in heaven, I believe that someone as passionate about the outdoors as you would be very content.

Time flies. Today, we suddenly realize it has already been three years since you left us.
Yet your voice and smile still feel as vivid as yesterday.
I think it must be because your spirit and beliefs have stayed with us all along.

Today, we have so much to say to you — words of remembrance and also of self-motivation:

 December 2016, Beijing Memorial

As a pioneer and leader in the outdoor industries of Europe and China, Mr. Knut Jäger co-founded the European Outdoor Show in Friedrichshafen, Germany, in 1994, and helped develop it into one of the most influential outdoor exhibitions in the world. In 2006, he founded the Asia Outdoor Show in Nanjing, which grew into the largest professional outdoor exhibition in Asia. In 2011, he launched the Asia Bike Show in Nanjing, turning it into China’s largest professional trade show for sport bicycles. Over the past thirty-plus years, Mr. Jäger dedicated himself to advancing China’s outdoor industry, providing selfless support and care to many Chinese outdoor companies and professionals, and fostering steady, healthy, and vibrant growth within the sector.

From June 28 to July 1, 2018, the Asia Outdoor Show and Asia Bike Show will be held concurrently at the Nanjing International Expo Center.
