After 22 years of dedicated development, the Shanghai International Boat Show has gradually grown into the largest, most comprehensive, and brand-rich boat exhibition in Asia. It also serves as a “barometer” for observing the development of the boating industry in 2018. The Shanghai International Boat Show has long been committed to becoming the most professional and influential boat show platform in China and even all of Asia, providing the most valuable centralized showcase opportunity for boat component suppliers, boat manufacturers, yacht clubs, and related enterprises and institutions.
This year’s exhibition will feature numerous luxury yachts, including renowned exhibitors such as Beneteau, Oceanis, Jeanneau, Ferretti, and Bavaria Yachts. Domestic manufacturers such as Sunbird, Double Happiness, Orient, FAREAST, Changbo, Huanzhu, Lingbo, Minhua, Xigang Yachts, and Zhongfu Xigang will also showcase their latest models. As the preferred destination for well-known brands entering China, launching new products, and debuting new technologies, this year’s show will continue to attract standout newcomers. Beneteau will unveil its new models—Lexi 30, Antares 8, and Oceanis 41.1. Jeanneau will launch the Prestige 520. Oceanis will present its newcomer, the Sessa Fly 42, among other models. Jeanneau will showcase its flagship vessels—the Bavaria yachts and Monte Carlo Sport yachts. In addition, other leading yacht brands will also unveil the mysterious veils of their latest new products.
The equipment and accessories sector has always been a highlight of the Shanghai International Boat Show, and this year welcomes many top industry exhibitors, especially in the engine sector, which is particularly prominent. These companies are eager to debut their latest products. Among them, Mercury Marine, a professional maritime propulsion system brand, will bring the global premiere of its latest engine products to the 2018 Shanghai International Boat Show. In addition to Mercury Marine, other brands such as Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda, Parsun, Powerboater, Alpina, Aquatic, Pinnacle, and Sea-Doo have joined, adding further luster to this year’s event.
A gathering of stars, with water sports pros teaching you the ultimate on-water experience
The Shanghai International Boat Show is not only an industry event but also a carnival where you can get up close and personal with icons of the water sports world. This year’s show is truly star-studded, with the organizers fortunate enough to invite diving expert A’ku, AIDA international freediving instructor Linda Liu, wakeboarding queen Chen Lili, ISA Level 1 surfing coach Wei Jiahui, youth water sports expert Pi Laoban, Chinese Canoeing Association coach Xu Haiwei, and SUP yoga professional coach Chen Yufei, among other KOLs in the water sports community. They will offer insights at the exhibition and deliver a series of exciting water performances, allowing everyone to learn and experience the endless charm of water sports without barriers, immersing themselves in the waves. In addition, the Shanghai International Boat Show will host over 100 water and yacht clubs, showcasing their functional products around the clock, offering even more options for fun.
The highlight of the entire water carnival is the bounty competition centered around a water-themed series. The organizers have created a massive 500-square-meter indoor-outdoor pool, where fun-filled bounty competitions will take place, including water mat racing and diving puzzle bounty races. These activities allow audiences to experience water sports in 360 degrees, and participants can receive a sailor gift pack. There will also be a variety of interactive experiences such as kayaking, Optimist sailing, and paddleboarding, all provided with top-tier equipment by professional boat suppliers and guided by expert instruction from professional clubs.
Centered around water, aggregating a diverse lifestyle
Beyond the star-studded water carnival, this edition of the exhibition further elevates water culture, spinning off the concurrent “Lifestyle Shanghai Show,” which incorporates elements such as lure fishing, RVs, travel, and family leisure. This allows audiences to freely explore the trendiest new forms of leisure lifestyle while enjoying the thrill of water activities.
The creatively designed lure fishing experience zone authentically recreates fishing scenes. Whether it’s the all-inclusive lure fishing carnival, the runway show featuring hundreds of lure fishing stars from China, the US, and Japan, or the eco-friendly bait trade-in activity supporting charity, all help audiences fall in love with lure fishing, a new and environmentally friendly way to fish.
In the “Set Sail for Your Dream Vacation!” themed travel section, over 800 dream waterfront destinations such as Sanya, Phuket, Malta, and Seychelles are highlighted. On-site, visitors can also book premium water leisure trips at the most favorable yacht and sailboat rental prices.
Additionally, the RV section breaks away from the traditional dull display model, blending RVs, food, music, outdoor activities, and popular entertainment elements. It also features an “EDM-themed RV” activity, helping Greek EDM legend HOMEBOY realize his dream of holding his first China performance, while immersing audiences in the new lifestyle of RV living.
The Shanghai International Boat Show consistently adheres to the philosophy of “bringing the public an ultimate experience,” using diverse presentation formats to promote a new, fashionable lifestyle. The 2018 Shanghai International Boat Show will dazzle at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre from April 26–29. We look forward to your visit.
