At the Time Square on the 5th floor of JR Osaka Station, the FUN FAN FESTA 2018 summer festival has kicked off, running from July 13 to August 5 — over 20 days in total. The event space is decorated with classic Japanese patterns, featuring traditional-patterned rest areas and large benches where you and your family can relax. At the center of the square, beautiful Japanese lanterns are adorned with fireworks and geometric designs — elegant and chic. The dominant red tones set an enthusiastic and vibrant summer atmosphere for the entire event.
During the event period, every weekend and holiday (except July 28–29), from 11 AM to 5 PM, additional traditional Japanese fair games such as the smart ball wheel, fan throwing, ring toss, and yo-yo fishing will be available at both Time Square and Wind Square. Here, you can not only closely experience the festive atmosphere of different cultures but also unwind and relieve the fatigue of your journey.
When it comes to summer festivals, yukata (casual summer kimono) are naturally a must. In addition to FUN FAN FESTA, there's also the captivating Umeda Yukata Festival. This event is a key part of the Umeda District Management Practice Liaison Council’s activities, combining the two major themes of “coexisting with the environment” and “Japanese traditional culture,” showcasing the unique charm of the Umeda area through traditional style.
The Umeda Yukata Festival will take place on July 28 and 29 at three venues: the Hankyu Chayamachi venue, the GRAND FRONT OSAKA venue, and the 5th-floor Time Square, 11th-floor Wind Square, and DIAMOND area venue within Osaka Station City (OSAKA STATION CITY). The event includes yukata bon odori dancing, the Umeda Water Battle, and special yukata guest events. It’s said that 3,000 participants will join the yukata bon odori — what a spectacular sight that will be. Visitors wearing yukata to participating shops can also enjoy special summer-only offers.
