On August 18, the 2018 Basongco Cultural Tourism Festival concluded successfully after three days of vibrant performances. The event was supported by relevant government departments, people from all sectors of society, the media, and local residents. Shi Yunben, Deputy Secretary and County Head of Gongbo'gyamda County; Wang Bi, Director of the County People's Congress Standing Committee; Suolang Lawang, Head of the County Party Committee Organization Department; He Li, Executive Deputy County Head; Liao Lijie and Zheng Junfan, Deputy Directors of the County People's Congress Standing Committee; Duo Bujie and Zhao Xiaobing, Deputy County Heads; as well as representatives from the Tibet Tsangyang Gyatso Culture Research Association and various departments and enterprises in Gongbo'gyamda County, all attended the festival.
The main activities of this year’s Basongco Cultural Tourism Festival ran from August 16 to 18. Over the three days, Basongco treated visitors to a music festival filled with heavenly melodies, a beer carnival night, a Tibetan pork feast featuring distinctive cuisine, and an aviation hot air balloon show, among many other exciting programs. These events offered the audience a spectacular audiovisual experience.
As the most important highlight of the cultural tourism festival, the “Tsangyang Gyatso Classic Poetry and New Songs Music Concert” naturally drew significant attention. Renowned singers and performers from the Tibet Song and Dance Ensemble delivered stunning performances with their beautiful voices and distinctly Tibetan-style dances.

The concert kicked off with Tsering Danzeng from the Duilongdeqing County Art Troupe performing “Tsangyang Gyatso Love Song – ‘Yearning’.” Following him, famous Tibetan singers such as Suolang Ciren, Laba Ciren, Nyima Yangjin, and Zhu Ta Ciren took the stage one after another, passionately singing songs adapted from classic poems by Tsangyang Gyatso.
The poetry of Tsangyang Gyatso is tender, like his mother and homeland deep in his heart. His poetry is also beautiful and ethereal — the melodious voice of a heavenly crane is fit only to sing the tales of Tsangyang Gyatso. Singers from the Tibetan region, with their uniquely high-pitched, resonant, broad, and penetrating voices, sang praises of Tsangyang Gyatso, paid tribute to the revered figure, and reminisced about that mysterious period of history.

The 2018 Basongco Cultural Tourism Festival adopted a “Tourism Bureau + Culture” format, featuring multi-layered and multi-themed performance segments. It included a main stage equipped with dazzling lighting and sound systems, delivering an immersive viewing experience integrating dance, folk songs, visuals, and audio effects. This helped promote the culture of the Gongbo Tibetan people and the poetry of Tsangyang Gyatso to greater heights and farther reaches.
