Open for only 6 days: an open-air rooftop café born for Christmas

Taipei has many unique cafés, but this is the only one created specifically for Christmas. Torches Church, which hosts a Christmas party every year, has expanded its activities this year by opening a limited-time“rooftop café”, offering steaming coffee, cocoa, and handmade desserts that change flavor daily—giving visitors from all walks of life a chance to enjoy the winter atmosphere in this open-air space atop the building.

Ms. Yang from the Program Department of Torches Church said the 10th-floor terrace where the rooftop café is located is usually a favorite spot for staff to enjoy the breeze. Located right between Shin Kong Mitsukoshi and the cram school street, the contrast of the rooftop space makes it very relaxing. She also hopes that with the opening of this café, friends and family can gather here for Christmas and enjoy the festive atmosphere.

This highly Christmassy rooftop café may be open for just six short days, but it creates a secret hideaway amidst Taipei’s busy urban buildings—a perfect spot to chat with loved ones and sip coffee. It allows visitors to cherish the rare moments spent together even more. This year’s Torches Christmas Revisited event includes not only the rooftop café, but also a lively Christmas market, a Santa Claus meet-and-greet, and other warm and exciting activities—definitely worth looking forward to.
