Eslite Makes Its Way to Shanghai as a New Cultural and Creative Landmark in 2015

When Eslite is mentioned, most people think of its cozy and artsy reading spaces. Now, Eslite is extending its unique cultural and creative style and services to Shanghai as well. Eslite Life will officially enter Shanghai's Shanghai Tower in Lujiazui, Pudong, in 2015. This is also the first new branch in Shanghai publicly announced by Eslite Life. With an operating area of approximately 6,500 square meters, it is positioned as a friendly, diverse, and culturally creative platform that blends characteristics of both Taiwan and Shanghai. It will also join hands with Shanghai Tower to create a new urban cultural landmark across the Taiwan Strait.

Shanghai Tower is located in Lujiazui, the core business district of China’s national-level financial and trade zone. Standing at 632 meters tall with 121 floors, it aims to create an innovative vertical business community based on the four themes of “verticality, greenery, intelligence, and humanity.” Its current construction has surpassed Taipei 101, making it the tallest building in the cross-strait three regions. Scheduled to begin operations in 2015, it is expected to become a representative of the next generation of super high-rise buildings worldwide.

 

Eslite Life will occupy the underground level connected to the subway, as well as the 52nd and 53rd floors of Shanghai Tower. Utilizing the characteristics of vertical urban space and the concept of composite venues, it will offer a wide range of products and cultural and creative services with both breadth and depth. The different floor levels will cater to distinct groups: the underground level is positioned as a cultural life hub for the general public, emphasizing browsing, experiencing, cross-industry integration, and creativity stimulation. The 52nd and 53rd floors are designed as cultural-themed lobbies for white-collar workers and members, focusing on in-depth cultural dialogue and creative spaces. It is expected to welcome up to 30,000 to 40,000 visitors daily, including office workers, tourists, shoppers, and hotel guests.

Eslite Life Chairman Wu Qingyou stated that Shanghai is a city that embraces all rivers and boasts a grand atmosphere. It is also a world center that gathers elites from China and abroad, blending classic and modern cultures. It is an international metropolis where material development and urban activities are most vibrant. “Eslite Life greatly cherishes its connection with Shanghai Tower. At this moment of perfect alignment, we are delighted to participate together in shaping and deepening Shanghai’s culture. We also hope to warmly and generously showcase the brilliance of Shanghai’s people through our venue spirit,” said Wu Qingyou.

 

Eslite Life continues to deepen its operations across the two sides and three regions. In the third quarter of this year, it will open and begin operations in Taipei’s Songshan Cultural and Creative Park. Before the end of 2014, its first flagship store on the mainland in Suzhou will also open.
