Typhoon Kemi, the sixth typhoon, may form today with heavy to torrential rain warnings for central and southern Taiwan

This tropical depression at 995 hPa, which may form today, is located at 21.5°N, 118.0°E, about 290 kilometers southwest of Eluanbi, moving northeast at 10 km/h. Ships navigating or operating in the waters around Pratas Island, the Bashi Channel, and the southern Taiwan Strait should exercise caution; if it develops into a typhoon, the Central Weather Bureau is very likely to issue a typhoon warning, so stay updated on weather developments.

In addition, the Central Weather Bureau has not only issued a strong wind warning but also a torrential rain warning. Apart from heavy rain in mountainous areas of central counties and cities, regions such as Tainan, Kaohsiung, Pingtung, Taitung, Green Island, and Orchid Island should be especially wary of heavy rain causing disasters.
