In recent years, Banqiao has gradually become a new hotspot for gourmet food, with many well-known restaurants expanding their presence here and even establishing an unmissable “Big Four of Desserts.” Among them, “Dian Dian Tian Tian,” a dessert shop launched by the famous Banqiao brunch spot “Hao Chu,” gained fame for its Kyoto Komatsu-En matcha chiffon cake.

Dian Dian Tian Tian’s matcha chiffon cake uses matcha powder from Uji Marukyu Komatsu-En in Kyoto, Japan, along with Japanese Showa-brand flour as the main ingredients. The inner filling replaces traditional red beans with Tamba kurogoma (black soybeans) from Japan. Unlike typical dry chiffon cakes, its moist texture paired with the rich matcha glaze has won over the hearts of many matcha enthusiasts.

The lemon tart is also one of the shop’s signatures. The lemon custard filling, paired with yellow, white, and green protein icing, adds layers of flavor to the cake. The most unique part is the addition of basil inside the cake, giving it a refreshing herbal aroma alongside the sweet and tangy taste.

In addition to offering a variety of flavored cakes, Dian Dian Tian Tian also serves a range of beverages, pound cakes, cookies, and more. It’s hard to categorize the types of cakes, as the shop owner puts it, “Japanese, French, Taiwanese – I’m not really sure myself... Let’s just call it: freestyle desserts.”They hope to let customers relax while eating and leave with a good mood.
