Yesterday, the news "20-year-old female college student takes wrong train stop, gets into a tricycle and is robbed and killed by the driver" sparked widespread attention on Weibo. According to reports, Wang Moulin, a girl from Jiangxi, took a train home but got off at the wrong stop. She was then taken by a tricycle driver ("guaidi") to a remote area, where she was robbed and killed. Not long ago, the case of Hu Yixuan, a girl from Heilongjiang, who was sent home by a pregnant woman but met a tragic end, also stirred heated discussion among netizens. In response, @People's Daily posted multiple Weibo messages yesterday reminding girls to stay alert when traveling alone, and many netizens reposted and commented.

Micro Incident

On the morning of August 18, the Nanchang County Public Security Bureau held a press conference regarding the disappearance of a girl from Xiangtang. According to the police, Wang Moulin, who went missing at Xiangtang Railway Station in the early hours of August 15, has been confirmed dead. The suspect, Li Moumou, has been arrested, and the victim’s body has been found.

Preliminary investigations revealed that around 4:40 a.m. on August 15, the victim Wang Moulin took a train from Foshan, Guangdong, and got off at Xiangtang Railway Station. She then took a "guaidi" (a modified three-wheeled motorcycle) driven by the suspect Li Moumou. Li Moumou drove the guaidi to a remote, deserted area, killed Wang Moulin, and robbed her belongings. The suspect Li Moumou has been criminally detained. The case is still under further investigation.

Micro Reminder

What all girls should pay attention to: This tragic incident reminds us that when traveling alone, we must stay alert—don’t go to designated locations with strangers, avoid unlicensed taxis, avoid carpooling with strangers, choose the side near the elevator buttons when in an elevator... Girls are inherently vulnerable. For the sake of those around us, spread the word. @People's Daily

How to escape if in danger: ①If robbed: Your life comes first—throw your valuables away and run in the opposite direction; ②If facing a home invasion robbery: Lock yourself in your room, find something to defend yourself with, and call the police immediately; ③If kidnapped: Try to lower the perpetrator’s guard while stalling, and look for sharp objects to cut your restraints; ④If being followed: Don’t go straight back to your residence—take a taxi to a busy public place or ask a passerby to accompany you. @People's Daily

Girls' Safety “Ten Don’ts”: ①Don’t go to designated locations with strangers; ②Don’t go out alone at night; ③If you must go out, don’t take shortcuts through dark alleys; ④Try not to use stairwells at night; ⑤Don’t open the door recklessly if you hear noises outside; ⑥Don’t reveal personal information to strangers; ⑦Don’t take unlicensed taxis; ⑧Don’t carpool with strangers; ⑨Don’t be attached to material possessions; ⑩Don’t lose your judgment in a crisis. @People's Daily

Princess XiXi: When taking buses that run infrequently in remote areas, try to board early and sit in the seat next to the driver. Before taking a taxi or carpooling, remember the license plate number. Once inside, call a friend in front of the driver and share the license plate and other details.

Late Summer Early Autumn: Single girls should try to avoid going out at night. Pay extra attention to the safety of your belongings and documents in public places. Better safe than sorry.
