Located in Takikawa City, Hokkaido, the rapeseed fields boast Japan’s largest planting area and were once selected as one of the “100 Moving Moments in Hokkaido.” Every May, they transform into a massive yellow sea of blossoms resembling a flower carpet, making them one of the must-see sights of early summer in Japan.

The boundless expanse of golden rapeseed flowers, paired with the magnificent blue sky and white clouds, creates a brilliant scene that lifts the spirits. The rapeseed fields of Takikawa City are scattered across the Kōbetsu district, and every late May, the “Takikawa Rapeseed Flower Festival” is held, attracting over 100,000 visitors.
