Taiwan secures two spots in the Top 50 Best Bars in Asia 2018

The awards ceremony for the 2018 Asia's 50 Best Bars (Top 50 Best Bars in Asia) was held at the Capitol Theatre in Singapore, where the third annual list was announced. This year’s list welcomed eight new entries, with bars from Singapore and China leading the way — each country had 12 bars on the list. Two bars from Taiwan made the cut.

Manhattan in Singapore retained the top spot for the second consecutive year, continuing to hold the titles of "Asia’s Best Bar" and "Singapore’s Best Bar." Local bartender Vijay Mudaliar from Singapore was awarded the Altos Bartenders' Bartender award.

Other Singaporean bars that made the Top 50 include Atlas (rising 8 places to rank 4th), Tippling Club (7th), Native (rising 12 places to rank 8th), 28 HongKong Street (12th), Operation Dagger (19th), Gibson (22nd), Employees Only (23rd), D.bespoke (32nd), Nutmeg & Clove (33rd), Jigger & Pony (42nd), and The Other Room (50th).

Other Regional Awards
China Region
ShanghaiSpeak Low(3rd place) continues to holdthe title of "China’s Best Bar,"which is sponsored byMichter's Distillery. Speak Low also won the"Heering Legend of the List Award"in recognition of its outstanding performance on the list over the years.
Hong Kong’sThe Old Manmade its debut on the list and claimed the 5th spot, winning theTorres Brandy-sponsored"Highest New Entry Award"(Highest New Entry Award).
The other 10 Chinese bars on the list include six from Hong Kong:Lobster Bar & Grill(10th place), Stockton (11th place), Quinary (15th place), Zuma (18th place), 8 ½ Otto e Mezzo Bombana (24th place), andThe Pontiac (31st place); and two from Shanghai:Sober Company(14th) andUnion Trading Company (28th).
Beijing has one barJanes & Hooch(30th) making the list, while another newly listed bar located in Macau isThe Ritz-Carlton Bar & Lounge,ranked 48th.

Japan
In this year’s rankings, Tokyo’sHigh Five(6th) has been named“Japan’s Best Bar”for the third consecutive year, an award sponsored byCocktail Kingdom. Other bars making the list include seven from Tokyo:Trench(up 12 spots to 16th),Bar Benfiddich(20th), Bar Orchard Ginza(37th),Star Bar(43rd), and one from Nara,Lamp Bar(45th), as well as two newly listed bars —Gen Yamamoto(34th) andMixology Salon(40th).
