Japanese trading company Mitsui Group is developing an 18-hectare OUTLET PARK at Taichung Port, while Taiwan International Ports Corporation is also planning a waterfront recreational space in the adjacent area to create a new look for harbor tourism. It is expected to become the most eye-catching leisure and shopping destination in central Taiwan. The park is scheduled to officially open before the end of 2018.

In addition to building a large scenic Ferris wheel, the park will also introduce new types of entertainment suitable for all age groups, offering an international-level shopping, leisure, and entertainment experience, and providing comprehensive shopping enjoyment as well as satisfying daily lifestyle needs.
The current tenant recruitment progress for Mitsui OUTLET PARK Taichung Port has reached 80%. The tenants include well-known international luxury brands, Outlet first-time stores, and popular domestic brands. The surrounding areas of the nearby shopping mall are also quietly being embellished with more diverse tourism elements, including the installation art piece "Mazu Sailing at Sea," greening and beautification of the harbor park, and the "Taichung Port Backyard Garden." These aim to provide visitors with a joyful and diverse entertainment experience in the future.
The Taichung Port Branch pointed out that Taichung Port is an international commercial port and will become a dedicated area for tourism and business in the future. With the establishment of the OUTLET PARK, combined with nearby hotels, entertainment and leisure facilities, as well as transportation measures such as the Shuanggang Light Rail and the Taichung Metro's Taichung Metropolitan HSR Line, it will connect nearby attractions such as Wuci Fishing Port, Gaomei Wetlands, and Dajia Chenghuang Temple to form a scenic coastal corridor, becoming a highlight of coastal tourism and showcasing a new image of Taichung Port.
