Even non-rail fans will want to ride Taiwan’s three major mini trains

Taiwan has a long railway history, and many early trains remain favorites among rail enthusiasts. To help visitors better understand Taiwan’s railway development, some parks have even created miniature versions of classic trains, allowing both adults and children to ride and experience, making it an educational and fun destination.

1. Yilan – Taiping Mountain Forest Mini Train
Sanxing Township Office in Yilan has recreated the Taiping Mountain Forest Mini Train and is offering a one-month free trial ride. After the original Taiping Mountain Forest Railway was discontinued and its tracks were removed, a new 355-meter circular railway was built in front of Tiansongpi Station. A miniature train, one-third the size of the original, pulls two carriages, with a maximum of 8 passengers per ride.

Rebuilding the forest railway mini train not only boosts local tourism but also allows visitors to learn about the history of Taiping Mountain’s logging industry, turning nostalgic railway culture into a unique tourist attraction for Sanxing Township.

2. Tainan – HOTEL COZZI Ximen Taipei
Located in Tainan, HOTEL COZZI and HowToTrip (逸饭店) have created the only mini train in a hotel in Taiwan. The hotel features a 500-ping family-friendly playground, including a sand play area, fountain pool, and mini cars, perfect for families.
