Kyoto Retro Broadcast Canteen, full of old movie charm::Kansai::Sanjo Street

The Sanjo Broadcast Café is located within the Kyoto 1928 Building. This rather retro restaurant not only regularly plays Sanjo Broadcast from Kyoto, but also offers an atmosphere reminiscent of the early days when personal communication devices were not yet popular and people would gather in cafés to listen to the radio. The café is also equipped with a sound control console and microphones—it’s indeed one of the broadcasting studios for FM Kyoto Sanjo. However, live broadcasts here only take place on very special occasions.

The Kyoto Sanjo Broadcast Café does not compromise on food quality despite its “attached” nature. With a wide range of dining options—from pasta to the popular grain rice lunch set—it holds its own against regular restaurants. The owner also mentions that it’s perfect for a short rest after shopping, and alcoholic beverages are available in the evening.
