Kaohsiung Film Festival combo tickets go on sale September 11
Kaohsiung Film Festival combo tickets will go on sale from 2 PM to 4 PM on Saturday, September 11, at the Egg-Shaped Plaza on the third floor of Dream Mall. The bands Orange Doll and Bear Baby, as well as the combo ticket ambassador—Director Chang Tso-chi of this year’s opening film *When Love Comes*, actors Wu Kang-ren and Lee Yi-chieh—will all be present to spend a rare afternoon with the citizens of Kaohsiung.
The first 80 early birds who purchase tickets during the event will receive a limited-edition 8GB Kingston USB flash drive with a laser-engraved 2010 Kaohsiung Film Festival design. Numbered tickets will be distributed at the event—only one per person (distribution starts at 2 PM), and each numbered ticket can be exchanged for only one 2010 Kaohsiung Film Festival laser-engraved 8GB Kingston USB flash drive.
This year’s Kaohsiung Film Festival combo tickets allow seat selection for any screening. They are available at all 7-ELEVEN ibon kiosks nationwide, with an early bird offer of a set of three tickets for NT$349—that’s just an average of NT$116 per ticket. With the combo ticket, you can enter and exit the Pier-2 Kaohsiung Film Fantasy Makeup Exhibition (Pier-2 Cinema + Special Makeup Exhibition) unlimited times in a single day. In addition, the organizers will give away two LCD TVs and ten five-day trips to Thailand as prizes.
This year’s opening film, *When Love Comes*, is Director Chang Tso-chi’s sixth film and another touching work following his previous film *Dad... Are You Alright?*. The story follows a girl named “Lai Chun,” who grew up in a fast-food restaurant. After experiencing the sweetness and pain of love that comes and goes, her feelings toward her mother—who worked as a “concubine”—gradually shift from disdain to sympathy, and from resentment to deep love. The film portrays how two women from different generations, seemingly trapped by the inescapable fate of love, gradually undergo surprisingly interesting and profound changes amid the daily bustle of the restaurant. This is a moving film by Chang Tso-chi, whose works are usually known for their masculinity, as he explores themes of love, family, growth, and destiny.
The 2010 Kaohsiung Film Festival will be held from Friday, October 22, to Thursday, November 4, at the Showtime Cinemas in Dream Mall, the Kaohsiung Film Archive, and the Pier-2 Art Center in Kaohsiung. The combo tickets will officially go on sale at ibon kiosks nationwide from September 13 to September 30. A combo ticket presale event will be held on Saturday, September 11, on the third-floor plaza of Dream Mall, where limited-edition romantic gifts will be given to audience members who rush to buy tickets that day.
