Agricultural Biotech Conference & Exam – Win Great Biotech Prizes

The Council of Agriculture’s Agricultural Network has launched a special feature titled “Biotechnology: A New Era for Agriculture.” By participating in the “Biotech Creative Challenge” before October 28, you could win exciting biotech prizes.
What may seem like a cold and distant field—agricultural biotechnology—is gradually transforming our lives. Biotechnology has been listed as one of the six emerging industries, with the global agricultural biotech market expected to reach $12.6 billion by 2013. However, many people are still unaware of what agricultural biotechnology actually entails. That’s why “Biotechnology: A New Era for Agriculture” invites everyone to learn about the latest innovations in agri-biotech, discover the fruits of domestic R&D efforts, and support the sustainable future of agriculture.
This special feature showcases Taiwan’s advanced technological capabilities. In the past, most clownfish on the market came from wild tropical fish in Southeast Asian waters. Now, thanks to biotechnology, the Eastern Marine Biology Research Center has successfully developed breeding techniques for five local clownfish species and established farming methods for ten other international varieties. Taiwan is now among the few countries with clownfish breeding technology that boasts the largest number of cultivated species. The public can go online to participate in the "Biotech Creative Challenge." After answering quiz questions and progressing through the game, they have the chance to win various biotech-related prizes such as bamboo charcoal far-infrared home bedding sets and rose-scented bath gift sets. The more levels they pass, the higher their chances of winning. In addition, those who complete four annual missions can take home the grand annual prize!
