Witness love under Alishan — a romantic vow for a lifetime - HowToTrip

Where is the most special place to pledge your lifelong commitment? Taiwan boasts abundant natural resources, and there’s nothing more unforgettable or meaningful than having your love witnessed amidst the embrace of mountains. This year’s Alishan Wedding had 20 couples participating from all over Taiwan. Not only do they hold a special affection for Alishan, but they also took their vows in the 99th year of the Republic of China (2010), promising to stay romantically together forever.

These 20 couples came from Taipei, Taichung, Chiayi, Tainan, Kaohsiung, and Hualien. One couple shared that their elder sister had also participated in an Alishan Wedding, which deeply moved them. Another pair met and fell in love in Alishan, choosing to revisit this place to walk hand in hand for life. There was also a couple whose grandparents first traveled here on a trip, and whose parents had their honeymoon in Alishan, making the place especially meaningful for them. In addition, many other couples had different stories and connections, but all chose to mark the most important moment of their lives with the witness of Alishan.

Other visitors can also enjoy the sweetness of a warm winter. To encourage people to visit Alishan, the Alishan Forest Recreation Area Management Office set up a booth at the Alishan Train Station offering free sticker photos with Alishan scenery, creating long lines. Before February 6, 2011, visitors who collected stamps at nine major Alishan tourist spots to commemorate “9999” (a symbol of lasting love) could earn three points to get a free sticker photo taken at either the Alishan Management Office or Yuantan Visitor Center — a wonderful memory of Alishan.
