The "Chrysanthemum and Taro Festival" in Tongluo Township kicks off on November 13.
The "Chrysanthemum and Taro Festival" in Tongluo Township was inaugurated on November 8 when Deputy Magistrate Lin Jiuxiang struck a gong to launch the event. The township farmers’ association will host a series of activities from November 13 to 21 on weekends in the chrysanthemum specialty zone near Jiuhu Leisure Farm.
Themed “Flower Field Delights,” this year’s Chrysanthemum and Taro Festival features mesmerizing seas of white, yellow, and purple chrysanthemums. It also includes a “Nordic Fairy Tale Zone” with props such as carriages, nostalgic cartoon characters like Little Tien-Tien and Xiao Ying, along with a “Fabric Pattern Zone” and a “Sunflower Maze,” offering delightful surprises throughout the floral landscapes.
Beyond the flower viewing areas, the festival also presents special exhibitions of camellias and taro carvings, musical performances, free tastings of chrysanthemum and taro delicacies, Hakka tea ceremonies, parent-child chrysanthemum picking, DIY chrysanthemum doll painting, a one-dollar auction, magic shows, face-changing acts, and local agricultural product sales. From November 13 to 21, activities run from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM on Saturdays and Sundays, with a complimentary chrysanthemum-viewing shuttle bus service available at Tongluo Railway Station.
Deputy Magistrate Lin Jiuxiang commended the Tongluo Township Farmers’ Association and local farmers for their efforts—not only have they made Tongluo chrysanthemums a nationally renowned agricultural specialty, but the enchanting flower fields have also become a distinctive tourist and leisure destination. He expressed hope for the sustainable development of this high-value agriculture to increase farmers’ income. Tongluo Township Mayor Xie Qiquan and Farmers’ Association Chairman Ye Dongwei thanked the county government for its strong support in integrating the chrysanthemum and taro industries with tourism and leisure development, boosting national recognition. They welcome all to join the Chrysanthemum and Taro Festival activities to experience the beauty of the countryside.
