Take a hot air balloon ride to experience the beauty of Siraya

Siraya is celebrating its fifth birthday. Managed by the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, Siraya National Scenic Area is renowned for its stunning mountains and waters, as well as its rich historical and cultural heritage. On November 26, the anniversary of its establishment, in addition to inviting this year’s tourism ambassador, the celebrity Mayumi Sato, to recommend the beauty of Siraya and share insights on rural tourism to all, a series of dynamic and static celebratory activities will also be held at Zouma Lai Farm. The event will conclude with an opportunity for one lucky couple or pair of sweethearts who participate in the lucky draw that afternoon to join the “Experience the Beauty of Siraya in a Hot Air Balloon” activity, taking to the skies to enjoy breathtaking views.

The jurisdiction of Siraya National Scenic Area covers most of the mountainous townships in Tainan County and parts of Chiayi County. It is the 13th national scenic area under the Tourism Bureau and the first to be named after a cultural aspect. It features the charm of the Siraya indigenous people, the picturesque landscapes of seven major reservoirs, as well as a diverse range of industries including lotus flowers, mangoes, longans, water chestnuts, and coffee. With a rural character, it is also the country’s first national scenic area branded around “rural tourism and green sightseeing.” The area integrates its rich and diverse rural resources with the concept of “energy conservation and carbon reduction,” incorporating these ideas concretely into the construction and management of its tourism environment. This year, the scenic area has specially invited the famous Japanese celebrity Mayumi Sato to serve as the tourism marketing ambassador, filming advertisements for Siraya’s rural tourism. These ads will be broadcast on November 9 on China Television, CTS, Taiwan Television, Formosa Television, and the Indigenous Television Service.

To celebrate the fifth birthday of Siraya Scenic Area, a series of dynamic and static activities and generous giveaways will be held on November 26 at the popular Zouma Lai Farm within the scenic area, warmly inviting both domestic and international visitors to attend. The event will run from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with Zouma Lai Farm offering a special discounted admission price of NT$100 that day. Additionally, emerging youth dance troupes from Taiwan’s dance scene and Jibishua Elementary School will perform back-to-back shows titled “Dancing Siraya” and “Traditional Indigenous Dances of Siraya.” There will also be an exhibition of works by local artists such as Hong Xiangpeng and Lin Wenyue, a display of award-winning photographs from the “Summer Love Mango” photography competition, and a showcase and sale of Siraya specialty souvenirs, including products from Longhu Mountain Eco-Farm, Meiling Agricultural Products, Youjian Ice Shop, Meiwu Natural Plum Garden, Taiwan Sugar Organic Foods, and Xinsi Edamame. Travelers who have bonded over their love for Siraya National Scenic Area and shared their rural tourism experiences in the Siraya bloggers’ community will also attend to share their insights.

In addition to the above activities, visitors are also invited to experience riding in a ox-drawn cart. Couples or pairs of sweethearts attending the event can also participate in a traditional Siraya blessing ceremony and the “Love Hand-in-Hand” lucky draw. Winners will receive free stays or hot spring vouchers from quality merchants such as Guanziling Li-Jing Hot Spring Hotel, Tongmao Hotels Co., Ltd., Tangquan Meidi, and Jian Shan Pi Jiangnan Resort. More importantly, there’s a chance to “Experience the Beauty of Siraya in a Hot Air Balloon,” allowing visitors to take in the splendor of Siraya from the sky.
