The hotel and resort management company GHM has made its first foray into sports sponsorship by becoming the main sponsor of the renowned Swiss ice hockey team EHC Arosa. The legendary EHC Arosa won the Swiss championship seven times in the 1950s and twice more in the early 1980s before later slipping to become one of the country’s top amateur teams.

With the completion of a new arena, plans to revive EHC Arosa are gradually being implemented. GHM will support EHC Arosa’s return to competition during the 2011 and 2012 seasons as a sponsor. Hans Jenni, President and Director of the GHM Group, said: “The club’s image and the world-famous resort destination of Arosa are a perfect match for the GHM brand.” Mr. Jenni is also a fan of the team.

Regarding whether the legendary team can reclaim its status as a top-tier professional outfit within five years, Mr. Jenni added: “Regardless of EHC Arosa’s ranking in the coming years, we plan to make a long-term commitment to the club. Of course, GHM hopes the team will successfully return to the national league, but that will not affect our future commitment.”
