The world's tallest radio tower, the "Tokyo Skytree"!
One of the most talked-about structures in Japan right now is none other than the "Tokyo Skytree" (Tokyo Sky Tree)! Located near the historic neighborhoods of Asakusa, Mukojima, and Ryogoku, which have a 400-year-old heritage...

In this area, the streetscape has been constantly evolving over time, coexisting with the eras, where traditional and modern elements blend seamlessly. From the famous Senso-ji Temple at Kaminarimon, take a rickshaw ride and you’ll see the 634-meter-tall Tokyo Skytree towering above. You can also enjoy a distant view of it from a river cruise on the Sumida River, or from the geisha district of Mukojima and the Kokugikan (National Sumo Stadium).

Construction of the Tokyo Skytree began in July 2008, and by October 2010, it had reached a height of 470 meters. Currently, the second observation deck (at 450 meters) is under construction, followed by the installation of the antenna at the top. The radio tower section is expected to open to the public in spring 2012. Once completed, along with nearby entertainment facilities such as an aquarium and planetarium, it is sure to become a top tourist attraction.
