The Charm of Lukang: The 2010 Fulu Shou International Biennial Exhibition
What used to be a grain silo has now become an exhibition hall full of local cultural characteristics. This year’s “A Joyful Encounter ~ The Tourist Charms of Lukang – 2010 Fulu Shou International Biennial Exhibition” is being held here, presenting a complete display of various works showcasing the charm of Lukang, and inviting artists from around the world to participate, with nearly 110 pieces of artwork on display.

Organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau of Changhua County and hosted by Tunghai University, the “A Joyful Encounter ~ The Tourist Charms of Lukang – 2010 Fulu Shou International Biennial Exhibition” will run from September to December 5, with exhibitions at the Fuxing Silo in Changhua County and the Lukang Art and Cultural Center. “A Joyful Encounter” conveys the meaning of “happy gathering.” Starting from the theme of “Fortune, Prosperity, and Longevity,” it brings contemporary art together with traditional culture in a “joyful encounter,” aiming to create a rich and diverse contemporary art exhibition by integrating cross-disciplinary elements and drawing inspiration from traditional culture.

This exhibition integrates the history and cultural context of Fuxing Township and Lukang Town with contemporary art, divided into three main themes. The first emphasizes the “public and art” aspect within the spatial concept of “A Joyful Encounter”; the second is titled “The Playful Dance of Fortune, Prosperity, and Longevity,” focusing on dialogue and exchange between regions and on the potential of cultural narratives; the third is the “Fortune, Prosperity, and Longevity” exhibition section, which mainly explores the relationship between “tradition and the present,” merging past and modern elements, presenting both historical and contemporary narratives, and giving the artworks a fresh, new contemporary vitality while reflecting the unique artistic styles of different participants.
