A Tapestry of Joy: 2010 Kaohsiung Fruit & Flower Art Festival
Taiwan’s domestic agriculture has gradually become more diversified. Collaborating across industries, organizing promotional sales, and promoting leisure agriculture have become key efforts for cities and counties. The Kaohsiung City Government utilized the area of the Taiwan Premium Varieties Market and related scenic fields during the 2010 Asia-Pacific Seed Congress. Through fruit and flower installation art, agricultural information displays, and leisure landscape arrangements, it helped the public gain a better understanding of Kaohsiung’s agriculture and foster support for local farming.

The “2010 Kaohsiung Fruit & Flower Art Festival” was held on November 20 and 21 (Saturday and Sunday) at the Kaohsiung International Flower Market. It presented “Happiness and Colorfulness” through “creative activities” and “leisure agriculture,” and showcased “abundant achievements” through “industrial features” and “results demonstration.” The dynamic and static interactions made the fruit and flower art festival a driving force for the industry and transformed it into an educational yet fun nature classroom through various activities.
Among the events, the “Parade of Floral and Fruity Art” — an art troupe parade — will gather groups and communities to join a street parade themed around fruit and flower art. The “Flower Princess & Fruit Prince” — Little Ones Talent Competition — invites children under 13 from southern Taiwan to compete in a “Flower Princess & Fruit Prince” contest, dressing up as flowers and fruits to find the cutest little ones. Other highlights include fun fruit and flower knowledge challenge games, a nature classroom, fruit and flower installation art, as well as exhibition areas for specialty agricultural and local products — making it a great outing for parents and kids.
