To celebrate the reopening of the Su-Hua Highway on November 15, Hualien County Government will host a series of cultural events and promotional offers. The internationally renowned "Saint Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra" has been specially invited to perform its debut concert in Hualien, while tourism, accommodation, and hot spring businesses have joined forces to launch the “FUN Heart Tour Hualien, We’ll Cover Your Stay” campaign. Both domestic and international visitors are welcome to explore Hualien’s beautiful landscapes with peace of mind.

On the morning of November 14, Hualien County Magistrate Fu Kun-chi held a press conference to celebrate the official reopening of the Su-Hua Highway at 5 p.m. on November 15. Representatives from the leisure industry, hotels, and tourism sectors were invited to announce a series of promotional activities including the “FUN Heart Tour Hualien, We’ll Cover Your Stay” campaign. In addition to inviting the Saint Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra to hold Taiwan’s first concert at the Guanghua Lohas Park on the evening of November 15—tickets for which are available free of charge—the campaign also includes a compelling lecture by renowned Asian speaker Yu Qiuyu in December, a New Year’s Eve celebration featuring a lineup of Asian superstars, and a dawn concert by Europe’s most prestigious symphony orchestra to welcome the centennial founding anniversary of the Republic of China after greeting the first sunrise of 2012 on New Year's Day.

The “FUN Heart Tour Hualien, We’ll Cover Your Stay” activity will begin distributing number plates at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, November 16, in Dong’ao. The first 500 private cars traveling from the Su-Hua Highway to Hualien will be able to draw free accommodation vouchers and local specialties upon arrival, while passengers on large tour buses can receive souvenirs, and truck drivers will be given a case of mineral water.

Chen You-zhen, Director of Hualien County Government’s Tourism Department, stated that in addition to the “FUN Heart Tour Hualien, We’ll Cover Your Stay” promotion, various tourism businesses will continue to offer special deals such as “Nine for Hundred” until February 1 next year. These include discounts such as “10% off” or “100 NTD cashback” for visitors taking the train to Hualien and spending at local specialty shops, restaurants, accommodations, or cinemas using their train ticket stubs. Drivers coming from other counties can also enjoy benefits by presenting their vehicle registration.
