Century-old Attractions of Northeast Coast Incorporated into Dishes

Using local and seasonal ingredients, the dishes showcase the distinctive attractions of the Northeast Coast. For example, “Century Spirit Stone” and “Century Fleet,” themed around unique geological features and the million-year-old Geological Footpath, are presented through the chefs’ skillful hands and creativity. Additionally, the dish “Ecological Abundance” highlights the rich ecological resources of the Northeast Coast Paradise, utilizing the freshest specialty ingredients, which received high praise from visiting foreign backpackers. A friend from Canada said: “I never expected that a creative concept like ‘Century Dawn’ could be turned into a dish. I’m truly impressed by Chinese cuisine. On New Year’s Day, I must come to Fulong to welcome the real first light.”

On New Year’s Day, several skylights (beam lights) will be set up on Azure Boulevard, creating a new landmark in the Fulong area and illuminating the streets along the coast. Visitors will walk through the Century Fashion Dawn Boulevard shaped like the number 100, symbolizing the beautiful meaning of passing through a time tunnel from 99 to 100 with intersecting beams of light and the passing on of the torch. Lin Kun-yuan, Director of the Northeast Coast National Scenic Area Administration, stated: “In addition to collaborating with Taiwan Railways to issue the ‘Taipei–Fulong’ ticket package, the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle – Northeast Coast ‘Golden Fulong Line’ will also commence operations after the 100th Spring Festival, providing seamless shuttle services from Ruifang via Jiufen to Fulong.” The Northeast Coast & Yilan Coast Scenic Area Administrations have specially partnered with bus companies to offer a special dawn-welcoming shuttle bus at just NT$220 round trip per person—cheaper than taking the train—and participants will also receive a mysterious little gift to celebrate welcoming the first light.
