France’s winter sales season kicks off with discounts of up to 50%

When visiting Europe, many people come for luxury shopping, but in France—where prices are already high—it’s easy to overspend. The annual two-weekend shopping extravaganza, the winter sales, will begin in January 2011. Department stores across the country offer discounts of at least 50% during this period. Galeries Lafayette in Paris also provides Chinese-speaking guides and tours for Taiwanese travelers, along with tax refunds of up to 12% on purchases over €175.

This is the fifth year France has hosted the sales season, attracting both domestic and international visitors. From January 12, 2011, to February 15, 2011, a wide range of fashion items and clothing will ensure a satisfying shopping spree. Foreign tourists can enjoy discounts of up to 50% on shopping, accommodation, outdoor activities, Seine River cruises, and guided tours. Galeries Lafayette in Paris, with a century-long history, welcomes around 80,000 visitors daily and houses all major international fashion brands. Every Friday at 3 PM, you can enjoy free fashion shows by renowned designers on the top floor. During the sales season, especially for luggage and bags, some luxury brands offer discounts of up to 20% to 50%. There’s also a Taiwanese Customer Service Center (Welcome Taiwan) that provides special services for Taiwanese guests.
