With this year’s Hot Spring Festival heating up, hot spring lodgings for New Year's Eve are in extremely high demand. Some participating businesses aim to extend the excitement of the 2010 Taipei County Hot Spring Festival all the way to Lunar New Year. On the consecutive evenings of December 31 and January 1, a hot spring operator in Jinshan will present spectacular fireworks shows, along with a special “soak and dine” package that includes an all-you-can-eat late-night meal. Soaking in warm, comforting hot springs on a cold winter night, enjoying a dazzling fireworks display, and indulging in an all-you-can-eat hot spring feast is truly a unique experience.

With so many great deals for soaking in hot springs in New Taipei City at the end of the year, are you tempted? The Taipei County Tourism Bureau has arranged free shuttle sightseeing buses on weekends to areas such as Wulai, Jinshan, and Wanli. The hot springs in Jinshan and Wanli, Taipei County, are sulfate springs, with temperatures reaching up to 120°C. The water is directed into hot spring pools at temperatures between 47°C and 90°C. Since the Jinshan hot springs emerge from the sandy beach and have a slightly salty taste, they are classified as simple springs. In Jinshan’s Bayan area, there are the Bayan Hot Springs, which originate from an upstream tributary of the Sulfur Creek and are geothermally heated by the Datun Mountain range. These are classified as neutral sodium bicarbonate springs.
