Hsinchu, the birthplace of Taiwan’s glass industry, boasts abundant resources and refined craftsmanship. To provide the public with diverse tourism experiences, the Hsinchu City Government is organizing the “2011 Glass Art Carnival” from January 21 (Friday) to April 5 (Tuesday), a 75-day event that will take place at the Air Force 11th Village by the Lake Lichi in Hsinchu Park and the Glass Museum of Taiwan, inviting everyone to join this cultural journey in Hsinchu.

This year’s Glass Art Carnival features exhibitions such as the “Tiger – The Year of the Tiger Glass Zodiac Exhibition” in the first and second special exhibition rooms of the Glass Museum of Taiwan, and “Sculpting Light – Glass Art Creation Exhibition” by British artist Bay Martin. Forty-six renowned domestic glass artists have been invited to blend traditional zodiac culture with glass art, using “tiger” and “fortune” as creative themes. Through various techniques and creative concepts, they present diverse styles—each piece uniquely crafted, shimmering with translucent brilliance and radiant sparkle.

Additionally, three pavilions at the Air Force 11th Village—Azalea, Rose, and Camellia—have been transformed into a Glass Art Street, featuring 16 glass vendors showcasing their signature glass artworks for visitors to purchase. Live demonstrations of glassmaking techniques such as kiln firing and glassblowing by master glass artists will also be available, offering the public a glimpse into the artisans’ creative processes.
