Recently, many "daily rental suites" have emerged in urban areas such as Kaohsiung, Taipei, and Taichung. These accommodation options, promoted and operated online, are not legally permitted, raising concerns about guest rights and public safety. The Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications recently published lists of legal and illegal homestays and hotels in various counties and cities, reminding the public to choose legally registered accommodations when traveling. Avoid relying solely on online advertisements to prevent unnecessary risks.

The Tourism Bureau stated that legal hotels and homestays are not only required to carry public liability insurance but are also subject to annual joint inspections and guidance from local government departments in construction, fire safety, security, commerce, and health. This ensures relatively reliable quality and public safety. In contrast, daily rental suites are often unused apartments rented out to travelers on a daily basis. These properties typically lack proper fire safety, building code, or health inspections, and do not carry public liability insurance, offering little protection for guests.
Taiwan boasts beautiful mountains and scenic landscapes. Before traveling, it's advisable to carefully select reputable homestays and hotels to enhance your trip.
To ensure public safety and protect consumer rights, the Tourism Bureau has urged local governments to set up special task forces to investigate and enforce regulations, while also providing travelers with more comprehensive accommodation information.
