The Lianhuatan Ecological Sightseeing Event to Be Grandly Held on April 9

The “100th Anniversary Lianhuatan Ecological Sightseeing Tourism Event” will commence on April 9. Since its launch in 2007, the number of participants has grown year by year, with over 20,000 visitors last year and a satisfaction rate reaching 95%. This year, the Lianhuatan Ecological Sightseeing Tourism Event has been expanded, with activities extending to five days per week and special discounted room packages offered in collaboration with nearby hotels. Registration has been brisk, and interested individuals are advised to sign up quickly via the official website.

The Lianhuatan Ecological Sightseeing Event runs from April 9 to May 14, featuring butterfly-watching activities every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM for a total of 26 days. Firefly-watching activities are held every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. In addition to guided tours led by interpreters from Hualien County Government, Hualien Forest District Office, and the East Rift Valley, which aim to deepen environmental education through insights into firefly and butterfly ecology, reservation-based slow bike tours along Lianhuatan and Baibao Stream cycling paths are available every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM. The first 50 registrants can enjoy free bicycle rentals from Giant.

Free guided firefly and butterfly tours at Lianhuatan have begun accepting registrations.

In addition to free ecological tours for firefly and butterfly watching, the organizers have partnered with around 50 local Hualien tourism businesses to offer discounts ranging from 30% to 50%. EasyGo Travel Agency is launching a cruise-style train experience, while Fenglu Travel has designed flexible 2-day 1-night or 3-day 2-night itineraries for two or more travelers. These offerings allow visitors to not only enjoy Hualien’s ecotourism but also benefit from convenient transportation and high-quality accommodation. To promote ecotourism principles, the event employs a quota system, accepting up to 600 participants per session for reserved interpretive programs involving biking, butterfly watching, and firefly viewing. Registration deadlines are two days before the event date.
