Fiery Latin flair: Macau’s “Carnival 2011”

Latin flair is sweeping through Macau ! The much-anticipated “Carnival 2011” will kick off at Vitasino II starting April 15, featuring a variety of South American-style delicacies, special craft beers and drinks, and high-energy Latin music that will ignite the atmosphere, along with sizzling samba performances that let visitors experience the passion of Latin culture right here in Macau — dancing and partying to their heart's content !

Carnival is a major festive event in Latin America, best known for its high spirits and dazzling costumes. The annual carnival in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, held every March, attracts hundreds of thousands of participants. Meanwhile, MGM’s Carnival will set up a twenty-meter-long giant tent on the open lawn at Vitasino II, decorated with colorful, carnival-themed ornaments that exude Latin flair. It will offer a selection of South American specialties such as spicy chicken wings with grilled pineapple, Brazilian sausages served with chili cheese bread, braised beef brisket with fried cassava and satay kale, Spanish-style churros with chocolate sauce, a variety of craft beers and red and white wines, Bacardi rum, and a range of tropical fruit cocktails — all sure to whet your appetite.

And the most essential element — the music — is also a key highlight. The event has specially invited the renowned Latin band SOTO, hailing from South America, to perform live, bringing the vibrant, electrifying beats that will energize the entire venue. Band SOTO enjoys an outstanding reputation across the Americas, having collaborated with superstars such as Whitney Houston and Ricky Martin. They were also the first Latin band to perform in Beijing. While enjoying the stirring Latin rhythms and drinks, you can also watch the dazzling samba dancers strut their stuff around the venue, making you feel as if you've been transported to Latin America. The MGM Macau “Carnival 2011” will be held from 6:00 PM to 12:00 AM nightly from April 15 to April 24 (excluding April 18 and 19). Admission is MOP 50 per person. Discounted group tickets are available: MOP 250 per person for groups of 10 or more, and MOP 230 per person for groups of 20 or more. The packages include admission, MOP 250 in food vouchers, and priority seating arrangements.
