The second wave of the star-rated hotel evaluation conducted by the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications has completed assessments for 27 hotels. To debunk the common belief that “more stars mean better quality,” the bureau specially visited the selected two-star hotels. These two-star establishments each feature either trendy, modern facilities or nostalgic, humanistic designs, with the highlight being their affordability—most options are suitable for couples, costing just under NT$1,000 per person. To encourage industry participation in the star-rated hotel evaluation, the bureau is currently waiving evaluation fees, with registrations accepted until August 31 this year.
In addition to being clean and comfortable, the selected two-star hotels also boast distinctive décor.
The Tourism Bureau stated that the star-rated hotel evaluation is both a trend of the times and a necessary strategy for enhancing the service quality of Taiwan’s hotels and achieving full international alignment. In the future, all government tourism support measures will prioritize star-rated hotels. With the “guarantee” of the Tourism Bureau, one-star and two-star hotels alike offer a certain standard of service quality, ensuring travelers can stay with peace of mind.
The Tourism Bureau hopes to protect consumer rights through the star-rated hotel evaluation.
The results of this evaluation include the following: 168 Hotel Zhongli Branch, Taijin Hotel, Broadway Hotel, FuZhuang Business Hotel, Changhua Laurel Motel, and Fragrance Hotel as two-star hotels; three-star hotels include Taipei Park Swift Holiday Hotel, Taipei Fragrantia Business Hotel Nangang Branch, Cannes Fashion Hotel, Lianqing Motel, and Soho Motel; four-star hotels include Miaoli ChaoPin Hotel, Capital Hotel, Four Points by Sheraton, and Blue Sky Le Pool Hotel; five-star hotels include Regent Taipei, Taipei Novotel HSR Taoyuan Airport Hotel, Hilton Taipei, Shangri-La’s Far Eastern International Hotel Tainan, Evergreen Laurel Hotel, Regent Taipei, Sheraton Hsinchu Hotel, Lalu Sun Moon Lake Resort, Far Eastern Plaza Taipei Hotel, and Luchia Hotel & Resort.
