Kaohsiung's Blue Highway adds new routes; Oyster Liao Fishing Port and Little Liuqiu are all the rage

In March this year, Kaohsiung’s “Haipeng No. 2” recreational fishing vessel made its first chartered voyage to Oyster Liao Fishing Port, receiving an enthusiastic response. With full support from the Kaohsiung City Government, Ocean Legend Company launched voyages in August on the “Giant Whale” and “Queen of Heaven” passenger ships, adding them to the Blue Highway routes between “Love Pier–Oyster Liao Fishing Port” and “Love Pier–Little Liuqiu.” Thanks to their large size, these vessels offer a smooth and fast ride, earning high praise from visitors. More routes will be added in the future.

The Marine Bureau stated that on the routes from Kaohsiung Harbor to Oyster Liao Fishing Port (approximately a 40-minute voyage) or Kaohsiung Harbor to Little Liuqiu (approximately a 70-minute voyage), both the harbor scenery and coastal views are quite stunning. In addition to offering the public a chance to enjoy marine recreation, these routes also allow people to learn about fishing village culture, serving an educational and entertaining purpose.

Additionally, given that the “Love Pier–Oyster Liao Fishing Port” route has been attracting growing crowds and bringing significant tourism revenue to the area, the nearby Mituo District Fishermen’s Association is also planning to launch a new itinerary. Leveraging the region’s fishing industry characteristics and the tourist resources of Ledi Mountain, they have scheduled the launch of a “Love Pier–Mituo Fishing Port” package tour (approximately a 50-minute voyage) in November.
