Marking the anniversary of Haneda flights, Fahrenheit promotes Taiwan tourism at Tokyo travel fair

Since the opening of the Songshan-Haneda route, the tourism markets in both regions have seen significant growth, and more routes are expected to open in the future, attracting visitors from more Japanese cities and rural areas. According to statistics from the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, between January and August this year, the number of travelers from Japan to Taiwan totaled 800,000, an increase of 15.86%. At the end of September, to strengthen promotional efforts in Japan, the bureau led 120 industry representatives to Japan for promotion and invited the popular group “Fahrenheit” to introduce the charm of Taiwan tourism at the Tokyo Travel Fair on October 2, hoping to achieve the goal of 1.2 million Japanese visitors to Taiwan this year.

This year, due to the impact of the 311 earthquake, the number of Japanese people traveling abroad decreased, but the number of Japanese visitors to Taiwan has been steadily increasing since June. The Japanese public has been very grateful for the assistance and kindness shown by the Taiwanese people after the earthquake. Coupled with extensive coverage of Taiwan by Japanese electronic and print media, this has driven a surge in travel to Taiwan. In August, there were 118,000 Japanese visitors to Taiwan, a 27.8% increase compared to the same period last year—an impressive achievement.

This promotional trip to Japan will be led by the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, along with representatives from the tourism industry, to promote Taiwan in Tokyo and Yokohama. The delegation includes airlines, major hotels, travel agencies, leisure farms, and tourism units from various counties and cities. They will participate in the Tokyo JATA Travel Fair from September 30 to October 2. Taiwan’s tourism ambassador, Fahrenheit, will also appear at the Taiwan Pavilion of the travel fair from 11:00 to 11:30 a.m. on October 2, engaging directly with the Japanese public to attract more visitors to Taiwan.
