Opened in December 2015, Shuiyang Shimen enjoys an exceptional location where the restaurant provides direct 180-degree views of the reservoir lake. With its expansive vistas, it quickly garnered attention after opening, attracting many travelers to visit this hidden paradise nestled in the mountains.

Shuiyang Shimen originally started as a scenic restaurant, and later opened up its open space for camping, allowing visitors to fully experience the beautiful lake and expansive views of the reservoir, making for quite an enjoyable experience. The main building is designed in harmony with the natural landscape, featuring large glass panels that offer beautiful lake views from virtually any spot. The most beloved area is the outdoor wooden deck seating, right by the lakeside. The breathtaking lake views are sure to whet your appetite.

Unlike typical scenic restaurants, here you’re not just enjoying the view—you’re also enjoying delicious food. Shuiyang Shimen offers a selection of afternoon teas, Italian cuisine, salads, and drinks. Among them, the flower-shaped “steamed dish” has garnered praise for its exquisite presentation, receiving compliments for its beautiful colors and flavors. The delightful taste paired with the elegant presentation makes it a perfect choice for a relaxing weekend brunch.

In early 2016, camping was also made available. Waking up to an unbeatable lake view, you can simply open your tent flap to take in the full beauty of the Shimen Reservoir. The campsite isn’t large—it’s situated on the grassy area next to the restaurant—but it also highlights the 180-degree reservoir lake views. Up to 5 tents can have the place to themselves, with a maximum capacity of about 8 tents. Though compact, it’s well-equipped. It’s recommended that several families gather here for a cozy camping trip, enjoying food and drinks while chatting under the beautiful lake backdrop—it’s incredibly relaxing.

Besides the stunning lake views, Shuiyang Shimen also features a uniquely charming outdoor pond that reflects tree shadows and blue skies with white clouds, creating a beautiful sight. This also forms the unique landscape of “a front pond and a back reservoir.”
