Tainan Canoeing Experience Camp Invites the Public for Free Weekend Fun

Besides historical sites and delicious food, Tainan now offers a new leisure option. The 2011 National Canoeing Championships will be held on the Tainan Canal from December 17 to 18. To help the public learn more about this sport, from now until December 25, experience camps for canoeing and OP sailing will be held every Saturday and Sunday at the Jincheng Recreation Wharf in Anping District and the Hutoupi Scenic Area in Xinhua District.

The experience activities will take place on December 17 and 18 at the Jincheng Recreation Wharf in Anping District, and on December 24 and 25 at the Second Wharf of the Hutoupi Scenic Area in Xinhua District. From now until the day of the event, the public can make reservations or sign up on-site. The activities are free of charge, with six sessions available each day from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Each session lasts 40 minutes. Certified professional coaches will be present throughout the activities. Before getting into the water, participants will receive safety briefings, self-rescue training, and paddle operation instructions from the coaches.

In addition, the National Canoeing Championships to be held on the Tainan Canal will gather nearly 100 canoeing enthusiasts from across the country to compete and socialize. The competition aims to promote canoeing water activities and connect Tainan’s overall land and water tourism.
